Worthless Checks

The Worthless Checks Program at the St. Charles Parish District Attorney's Office offers individuals and merchants a means through which to collect on NSF and Account Closed checks. If a merchant or an individual would like to collect on a worthless check, they may go to the office and fill out an affidavit to begin collection procedures. The Worthless Check Department will then notify the individual or company issuing the check by mail, and they will be given ten days to make the check good. If the issuer fails to make the check good in that time, the Department will issue an arrest warrant. The Worthless Check Department collected over $50,000 for local merchants and individuals last year. The collection services are offered free of charge to both residents and merchants of St. Charles Parish.
